Should anything to your shipment while in transit - if it's lost, stolen, damaged, or if something happens to the carrier - you want to be covered.
You can include cargo insurance in your quote by ticking the insurance box on the search page.
Insurance is based on the value of your goods, so once you opt in, you’ll be prompted to enter the value of your shipment; your quotes will then include that cost.
The standard cost is between 3-5% of the value of your goods, starting at a minimum of about $50. Each freight forwarder will be working with a different insurance broker, so this will vary slightly depending on your choice of partner.
The insurance policy is provided by the freight forwarder, not Freightos, and covers the value of goods according to your invoice. Should you need to submit a claim for missing or damaged goods, you would do so to the forwarder according to the policy they provide.
We are of course here to coordinate or help as needed!
Note: Insurance is only valid for certain goods – for example, it wouldn’t cover hazardous cargo. If you have specific questions about whether your shipment would be covered, feel free to speak with our Freight Team – they can be reached anytime through email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or the chat icon on the site.
